The approved ordinance directs new funding toward the city's ongoing efforts to support recently arrived migrants, while also adjusting appropriations for the Department of Public Health and the Department of Water Management.
Additionally, the Council authorized redevelopment agreements and Neighborhood Opportunity Fund grants for local businesses. This includes support for Rome’s Joy Catering, Inc. to convert a ballroom into a community-based social club and co-working space on South Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, as well as improvements for Veteran Roasters on East 111th Street.
Council members also approved a series of zoning reclassifications across the city and finalized the 2023 Special Events Ordinance, which governs city-wide programming and permits.
