Residents will not see the establishment of a new Office of Neighborhood Safety or its accompanying advisory commission, as the ordinance failed to pass. This decision halts a proposed structural change intended to address local safety initiatives.
Additionally, the committee rejected resolutions that would have mandated public hearings into the disciplinary case of Police Officer Robert Bakker. A separate call for hearings regarding the alleged membership of active Chicago Police Department officers in the Oath Keepers organization also failed to advance.
